Cookery
We start our cookery programme with sourcing food - and where better than from the garden? Students learn about healthy options and balanced diets and go on to menu planning, and shopping for supplies. Food storage -dry goods, freezing, refridgeration and preserves - there's so much to learn. Kitchen health and safety, food hygiene, personal hygiene the safe use of knives and domestic kitchen equipment. Finally preparing and cooking food with an emphasis on skills that are appropriate for students to use in their own homes.Eating well is essential for personal wellbeing, starting with the basics we help students to understand all about food, from selection through preparation to consumption, delivering essential skills along the way. Training is based at a level that students are able to absorb and use in their own home environment.
