Volunteers

Volunteers at Pennine Magpie come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring a variety of skills and attributes to the organisation. You may wish to help others or seek an opportunity to share your skill and knowledge. Perhaps you would like to be part of our management team or simply to gain vocational experience. Whatever the reason, if you are interested in volunteering why not give us a call, tell us where your interests lie and arrange to visit. NB. Volunteer roles are subject to CRB check.

volunteering is a 'two way deal' at Pennine Magpie, you will be treated as part of our team from day one, have access to training and development where appropriate, and, most importantly - know that you are really making a difference to the lives of others.

Volunteers carry out roles that would not be fulfilled by employees, typically you may be able to share a passion for, say, arts and crafts and be prepared to help students to achieve more in their sessions, maybe you have a love of nature and the great outdoors and would like to accompany our team on their regular excursions into the countryside - the opportunities are as wide as the skills and interests that you have to share!

Perhaps you have recently retired from a management position and are feeling that your skills are being wasted - if so you could really make a difference by joining our our management committee and helping us to plan for the future - (we are currently seeking to replace our long serving, recently retired treasurer) - if you would like more information about this or any other aspect of volunteering at Pennine Magpie just go to the contact page and get in touch - we would love to hear from you.

N.B. all roles at Pennine Magpie are subject to Criminal Records Bureau checks.

Here is a chance for you to get to know a little bit about the people that currently volunteer here at Pennine Magpie.

Hi, my name is Gemma Sweeney and I am 25 years old. I came to Pennine Magpie as it is something I have always wanted to do. All the students and staff are very welcoming and I can't wait to come in and volunteer.

Hi there, my name is Richard Malone and I am 41 years old. I live with my two young daughters and come from an engineering background within the aircraft industry. I am completely new to social care and see it as a wonderful challenge. I also volunteer at age concern. My interests are travel, local history, sport and art.
