Cardboard Shredding

Whilst still based at the Chatham Street training centre PM began to convert waste corrugated cardboard by shredding it into a form that could be used as animal bedding. The process provided a platform for vocational training but was never economically viable.

The process used was very labour intensive involving collecting materials and sorting and decontaminating them by hand (removing staples, vynal tape and labels etc) cutting them into pieces and feeding them into a shredding machine by hand. Whilst the process was particularly useful as a platform from which to deliver vocational training it was slow and very costly to operate.
