About Us
Pennine Magpie is a not-for-profit social enterprise company based in North Halifax within the Calderdale Business Park. Our aims are focused on improving the lives of people who have learning difficulties by providing them with the skills to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. A dynamic approach to care in the community
Life skills enhancement, as appropriate to individual profiles.
Examples: -
- Housekeeping skills for personal benefit e.g. cookery, baking, snack and sandwich making.
- Personal laundry - washing, drying and ironing.
- Computers for fun and self-motivated learning.
- Social skills - interaction with others.
- Using public transport, private hire and taxi services.
Access to leisure: -
- Visiting and using public and private sector facilities.
- E.g. Theatre, cinema, music venues, community facilities, libraries, ad-hoc events.
- Walking and other appropriate health beneficial activities, indoor and outdoor activities.
Art and Handicrafts: -
- Painting, drawing, clay modelling and sculpture, collage, model making.
- Rug making, soft furnishing.
- Woodwork assembly - pre-cut items e.g. bird boxes, kitchen and desk tidies, book ends.
- Performing arts - song, dance, music - percussion instruments (making and using).
